8one is registered in India as ‘Eight Goals One Foundation’ under Section 8 of the Companies Act, 2013. The Foundation was founded by Varun Achreja and Ramit Singh Chimni.
It is headquartered in New Delhi and is working across India towards affecting pragmatic sustainable progress, with social development taking priority over other interpretations of the term development.
14 June - 24 July 2021
8one’s Flagship initiative, the Young Legends's League (YLL), has been started in partnership with the Mizoram Football Association. YLL has been recognized as India's first structured football development initiative that coincides with the Baby League Model advocated by the All India Football Federation. The aim is to engineer societal change through the region’s love for football.
Ramit Singh Chimni (Founder) began his career over a decade ago as an independent pro bono activist working towards social causes, especially the upliftment of farmers. In the process, he has dealt with the legislature, executive and the judiciary at the grass-root as well as the national level, helping bring about tangible change in the lives of farmers in one of the country’s major agrarian belts.
He then returned to The RASICH Group, which he founded in 2007, and for the last 9 years has worked closely with over 50 law firms in India in areas including strategic planning, practice management, productivity enhancement, financial reviews and organization structuring, where he also promotes the use of responsible and sustainable business practices.
He is the sole advisor to the Indian Corporate Counsel Association, a government-recognised body of corporate lawyers. Together, they were invited to draft a Bill for, and be a part of the discussions held by the Government on opening up the Indian legal sector, an issue for which he has been quoted numerous times, including by Lexis Nexis, Business Standard, and Legally India.
The research arm of The RASICH Group has published four books till date, the most recent one on management principles for the legal industry, which features contributions from him and some of the top legal management gurus from across the world.
Ramit is also an advisor to W1 Sports, India’s premier sports consulting company. W1 Sports aims to increase football penetration in the country, promote the sport from the ground-up, and help players from every stratum get increased exposure and opportunity.
India’s North-East is a hub of football, and his work in the region helped fuel his interest in working for the development of its extremely community-driven people. He thus co-founded the 8one Foundation to promote the foundation’s eight identified goals of Education, Peace, Gender Equality, Employment, Environment, Nutrition, Hygiene and Well-Being. The Foundation aims to affect
pragmatic sustainable progress, with social development taking priority over other
interpretations of the term 'development'. The project has also garnered interest
from the media, and we have been covered by major websites such as ESPN, GOAL.COM
and Scroll.in . The launch was even covered by the mainstream media, in India Today,
Outlook, Business Standard and others through the PTI network. Since then, both
Times of India and Hindustan Times have also covered it.
In recognition of his efforts in the space of social development, he was invited by Harvard University to participate in a panel discussion on Humanitarian Affairs at its Project for Asian and International Relations' Asia-Pacific Conference 2017. Additionally, he also conducted an individual session centred around redefining development, with a focus on the North-East as a central theme.
Ramit has been invited to speak at multiple fora, such as the Law Council of Australia, the Australian Centre for International Commercial Arbitration, the Harvard Project for Asian and International Relations' Asia-Pacific Conference, and the Women’s Economic Forumon topics ranging from Humanitarian Affairs, Redefining Development, the Indian Legal Industry’s Developments and Future, Making Globalisation Work for All, Indo-Australian Cooperation on Alternate Dispute Resolution, the Importance of ‘Playing to Win’ in Driving Excellence, to Managing Academics and Leadership Involvement, and Empowering Potential with Diplomacy, Conflict Resolution & Human Rights.
Recently, Ramit was honoured with the "Exceptional Leaders of Excellence" Award by the Women’s Economic Forum in New Delhi.
